Why
did you work with Ben, what were your goals and what had you tried
before?
A friend of mine was working with Ben already and told me about metabolic typing. I liked the idea of having an eating plan suitable for me as an individual rather than a generic weight loss diet.
I've always had a tendency to put weight on but have always been able to lose it easily by just eating less. However in the last 2/3years my weight has crept up to 11 stone (70kgs) and my normal methods of losing weight by cutting down haven’t worked.
I cycle a lot and take part in cycling events. Hauling extra weight up hills was demoralising and I could only fit into two of my hundreds of cycle jerseys!
A couple of years ago I tried Herbalife shakes, I eventually lost some weight but I felt hungry all the time so couldn’t stick to it. I now realise that, as with most diets, I was starving myself.
How
did you find the experience?
I was surprised how much I was allowed to eat on this programme. I was a vegetarian when I started and felt really unwell. I ate a lot of processed food and had no energy.
My limbs were stiff when I woke in the morning and I felt bloated and uncomfortable a lot of the time. I decided that to get the most out of one2one I would start eating (organic) meat again. I have never been able to eat fruit and my metabolic type confirms that this is right for me.
What
results did you get?
I lost 6 pounds (2.73kgs) after the first week, and I was delighted as I hadn’t felt hungry and was really enjoying the meals. In the 3 months since I started I have stuck to my meals without any problem. In that time I have lost 13 pounds (5.91kgs).
I feel energetic, no longer feel unwell or have stiff limbs in the morning. My goal is to lose another 4 pounds (1.82kgs) to get to my ideal weight. I know now that I have changed my eating forever because this is not a temporary diet to lose weight.
The revelation for me is that it is not the amount of food that one eats but the type and quality of food that is important to maintain a stable weight and good health.
