Underlying
theory
I
use a combination of techniques which I have found so far to be
the most successful in each of the different areas needed to succeed.
The nutrition, exercise and mental strategies employed are based
upon some of the following concepts.
This
information is also covered in the my weekly newsletter which I
would suggest you subscribe to.
Biochemical
individuality
The fact we are different on the inside as we are in our external
appearance is thoroughly documented. In the book Biochemical Individuality,
Dr Roger Williams reviewed thousands of medical studies. He found
that there was a large variety in almost every measure of the human
body from organ size and shape to enzyme and blood concentrations
and effectiveness. Through his own studies and in review he showed
how vitamin and mineral requirements for individuals varied considerably.
From this he coined the term, the Genotrophic approach to health.
This states that if you fulfil your genetically inherited nutritional
requirements you will optimize your health.
Further evidence of a unique dietary requirement
came from research with traditional tribes. It was found that when
they stuck to their native diets they remained in good health and
free from disease. When they consumed a different diet (foods brought
from colonial explorers) they developed many health problems. These
results showed that humans have adapted to live off the foods found
before them. This same adaptation process is seen across the animal
kingdom and is central to Darwin's theory of evolution.
In western society today we now have access to
foods from across the globe. This means we can eat the foods that
may not be correct to our genetic needs. The work of many scientists
over the last forty years has advanced the area of nutrition so
that we can now analyse and discover what foods your body really
needs.
In
addition to knowing what foods we need, we can discover which foods
you should avoid and which specific foods will lead to fat storage.
These specific foods cause fat storage by over stimulating certain
areas of the body which later results in fatigue and a drop in metabolic
rate. The drop in calorie requirements is accompanied by an increase
in stored body fat. The correct food quantities for you can also
be found. This is unique to each person as it is determined by enzyme
concentration and efficiency. Through using our methods we can find
out what is right for you.
The
subconscious mind
To achieve any goal in life we must have the whole mind synchronized
with our conscious thoughts to achieve success. For this to happen
we must develop the subconscious to believe and accept our thoughts
and desires.
The subconscious mind is the area of the brain
not under our control. It controls all our bodily functions without
us thinking about them e.g. breathing etc. It is also where we
store our memories, thoughts and beliefs. The processing of external
stimulus through our subconscious determines our self esteem and
ego and shapes our actions.
The subconscious will believe anything that is
impressed upon it enough times with enough emotion. This belief
comes regardless of whether those facts are true. This can be seen
in many situations, e.g. the repeated use of advertising slogans
to convince us there product is the best or where a person believes
they cannot do something because they have been told so by others.
It Is these untrue beliefs held within our subconscious
that often hold us back from achieving our goals in life, especially
when it comes to weight loss and adopting a healthy lifestyle.
Most dieters have failed many times before in losing weight and
it is these stored memories that set them up for failure once again
as the subconscious believes you will fail and then controls your
actions so this becomes true.
To
change the way we act, we must reprogram the subconscious. This
is because our actions are controlled by our feelings, our feelings
depend on what we think about the situation and what we think is
shaped by our beliefs. It is in the subconscious where our beliefs
are held. As an example, if a person's subconscious belief is I
am overweight and a failure. They may think they are unattractive
and cannot achieve anything, from this they will feel down and depressed
and therefore act by being quiet and introverted and afraid to try
new things. To change this action it would be useless to tell them
to act more extroverted and try new things, instead you would need
to change the subconscious belief so that they no longer believe
they are overweight and a failure therefore gaining the confidence
to be more extroverted and adventurous.
Emotional
freedom technique (EFT)
The
premise of this theory is that suppressed emotions and negative
thoughts impact badly on our subconscious causing unwanted d beliefs
and behavior.
EFT
states the that cause of this is a combination of the thought and
an associated disturbance in the body's energy system. To remove
the negative results of this we can simply realign the energy system
within the body. This is done by tapping with your fingers on certain
acupuncture points and using key phrases and statements.
The
result is the energy system is normalized and thus the memory, though
still there does not produce the negative consequences.
This
can be used to help train the subconscious mind to aid you in getting
your goals.
The
miracle drug - exercise
The benefits of exercise have been linked to so many improvements
in health and in aiding weight loss that it essential it is done
by everyone regardless of age, health or goals. The three main categories
of exercise each bring with them unique benefits.
Aerobic training, activities that raise heart rate
and oxygen consumption, has been linked with a reduction in heart
disease, cancer and diabetes. Performing such activity, e.g. walking,
jogging, rowing cycling etc. increases blood flow around the body
nourishing and cleansing the cells. Performing the activity also
uses many calories which is essential in obtaining weight loss.
Resistance training, making the muscles produce
a greater than normal force to complete the exercise movement.
This causes increases muscle strength, size and co-ordination.
It is responsible for increased bone density and has been shown
to increase functionality in people of all ages. Increased muscle
is related to an increased metabolic rate, (calories needed per
day).
Flexibility training is aimed at restoring the
muscles to their optimal length. This is done by regular stretching.
This allows you to achieve an ideal posture which will greatly
reduce the chance of injury or back pain. It aids in correct breathing
and increases muscles strength and functionality.
To achieve optimal health all three areas need
to be addressed on a regular basis using a systematic approach.
A
holistic approach
To ensure you achieve the highest level of health all other blocking
factors must be removed. These can come from many sources and are
different for each person and can vary from time to time. It is
essential to check on such issues as sunlight, to provide adequate
vitamin D production, sleep and biorhythms, to ensure you are making
the most of the natural hormonal cycle within your body, breathing
technique, thus ensuring adequate oxygen intake for complete cell
nourishment and cleansing. Contaminants in water and from household
and environmental products can cause many ill health problems in
certain individuals. In some people eating foods that are inappropriate
to their blood type need also to be considered due to the blood-food
interaction.
