It has been a while since I wrote a newsletter as I have been super busy with clients here in Battersea as well as online. We are about at the end of the lockdown saga and while travel restrictions and the entertainment industry may well be affected for months to come everything else is fairly back to normal ish. So what does this mean for Health & Fitness?


If you generally have had a bad period then as I have been saying since day 1 last March you need to chill out about whatever bad stuff you have been doing. There is no need to beat yourself up. You may have gained a lot of weight, drunk more alcohol than ever before, started smoking or not done any exercise at all in 15 months. Whatever happened, it is not the end of the world.


Getting through the lockdown in one piece is a success in my mind, you can always undo any damage done to the body or your fitness results. While lockdown will probably never happen again in your life. It should be pointed out that having an awful period of health & fitness is nothing new, it has been happening forever.


It could be you gain a lot of weight gain while having children, there was a lack of exercise during a bout of depression, your addictive behaviours got out of control due to a stressful period or simply you were over indulging at the start of a new relationship. It is nothing new that we go backwards during exceptional circumstances. The key is how you react once the events have passed. In a lot of these one off circumstances you do not overly need to analyse the events that created the problems in that there is chance they will never happen again in your life. However, what they often shine the light on is that perhaps you are not as good at following the appropriate protocols to reverse any damage done as you thought.  


The flipside to this is that you have had a great period during the last 15 months. However as things go back to normal such as social events returning or the the office commute happening again then you may need to re-establish a pattern to be able to fit your new good behaviours into your old routine.


Whichever way you went, it is time to draw a line in the sand and start again now. The events of the past year are behind us. You do not need to do anything dramatic today but now is the time to consider your health & fitness goals and you should think about what do you need to make the difference this time round so it will be a change for the good. 


Photo – I have had a great year of training personally, so far I have done 123 gym sessions which averages about 6 per week in 2021. I am currently enjoying a few days off exercise to recover which is nice :). Some photos from my sessions are below. I am aiming on competing again in another show in September.
